A modern DIEP flap is more than just transferring skin and fat from the abdomen to the breasts. Over the upcoming weeks I will be talking more about what goes into a successful DIEP flap, including how to optimize breast shape, preserve muscle tone & avoid abdominal wall bulges, and restoration of sensation to the breasts after mastectomy.
