Dr. Natasha Rueth is a surgical oncologist and chief of breast cancer services at Memorial Cancer Institute, where she specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with breast cancer.

Dr. Rueth was drawn to the field of oncology during her medical training because of the blend of intelligence and heart required to care for patients with cancer. She cherishes the opportunity to educate patients, minimize their fear and uncertainty, and help them navigate the challenging landscape of cancer care. Dr. Rueth feels that her greatest compliment is when patients leave her office at the end of a consult and tell her they feel renewed hope and security.

“A critical component of cancer care is finding the right treatment for the right patient at the right time. I believe in being honest with my patients and their caregivers about their diagnoses and options. I share the data, studies and scientific backing behind our decisions so they feel informed and understand what we can and cannot do with their cancer care. Most patients overestimate risk and underestimate survival and outcomes, and I enjoy helping them reframe their expectations and see there can be life after cancer.” Dr. Natasha Rueth

Dr. Rueth holds a master’s in clinical research, teaches and mentors other physicians, and publishes and presents on various aspects of cancer care, including research on breast cancer.

Before joining Memorial, Dr. Rueth served as deputy director and surgical oncologist at Allina Health Cancer Institute in Minnesota, where she was honored to be named a “Top Doctor” in the state by Minnesota Monthly Magazine annually and was also recognized as a “Top Doctor” for women. Currently, she serves on national committees for the Society of Surgical Oncology, and she is a breast surgical oncology fellowship site reviewer for the American Society of Breast Surgeons.

When I’m not in the office, Dr. Rueth enjoys being outdoors, traveling, exploring new restaurants and spending time with my husband and teenagers. Visiting California wine country is an annual trip for me. Being near water is my happy place, so she is obviously thrilled to be in South Florida.
