In March of 2020 at the age of 32 I was diagnosed with IIB triple negative Breast Cancer. I also found out I carry the BRCA 1 gene.
After 16 rounds of chemo I underwent a bilateral mastectomy and DIEP flap reconstruction. There were complications that ended up sending me back into surgery the next day. My recovery was extremely slow and painful.
Cancer sucks. No matter what part of your journey you are on. But I became determined to create something good out of so much hurt. I am thankful for the things Cancer taught me. Instead of just going through the motions I decided to find my purpose in life. I didn’t just want to “survive” I wanted to THRIVE! have an amazing support system unlike any I have ever seen. But not all women have that.
So I’m making it my goal in life to put together care packages for other cancer patients. We have all come to that point where we feel so weak, we just don’t think we can keep going. We feel discouraged and hopeless. I want them to remember that they are not alone. I want them to know that they are not fighting alone.
