Introducing Robyn Lesser, Founder of (un)cancer

A native of Clearwater, Florida, Dr Lesser earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania

A native of Clearwater, Florida, Dr Lesser earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her DMD from the University of Florida with honors in research. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Florida. Dr Lesser is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and has been recognized by Tampa Bay Magazine as a top pediatric dentist in Tampa Bay. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association®, the Florida Dental Association, and the Hillsborough County Dental Association. She is also a member of Florida Blue Key and is currently President of Pedo Gators, the pediatric dental alumni association for the University of Florida. Dr Lesser is a Fellow of the AAPD who contributes above and beyond in the field of pediatric and organized dentistry.  She enjoys volunteering in schools to help educate children on good oral health. Dr. Lesser has been in private practice in Tampa since 2002. When she is not working, she is busy with her husband, Gene, and two daughters, Sasha and Mila.

Cancer is in my genes – literally and figuratively

Cancer is in my genes – literally and figuratively. When I was in college both my paternal aunt and my paternal grandmother passed away – 3 years apart, both in February, they both had breast cancer, as well as other health complications.

My Diagnosis of breast cancer and testing positive for BRCA 1 with no family history.

Some mornings I wake up thinking or maybe its me pretending to be just a normal person, but then I put my fingers through my hair and it all flashes back like a bad nightmare. I remember that the reason I have little hair is because I recently had to fight for my life and the fight is something that I’ll always have to do.
